Fire retardant treated thatch is also available; standand treatment is Class
B, ASTM E-84 rated. Fire Marshall Certificate by California licensed Fire
Retardant Applicator can be provided with treated thatch.
We recommend that you consult with your local Fire
Marshall prior to fire treating any materials.
*Fire retardant treated thatch guarantee is limited to the cost of retardant
product replacement.
We recommend products that have been:
- Thoroughly tested by state approved laboratories
and;
- Approved by the California State Fire Marshall
(the most stringent in the USA).
Our fire retardant products are:
- Water based and non-toxic;
- Interior and Exterior applications;
- Recommended for wood or palm thatch products;
- Comply with the ASTM E-84 requirements and;
- *Hold a Class "B" rating with a flame
class specification of 40;
- Meet the Natl Fire Prodection Association`s textile
testing standards 9NFPA 701)

- Review MSDS sheet provided with product.
- An airless spray gun is recommended
- Hold lance at 12" to 18" from material
using an even, overlapping motion, thoroughly spray/soak material to
ensure surface is evenly coated.
- Material should be allowed to thoroughly dry
after treatment.
- Retardants can be applied by any competent person,
and if necessary.
- Fire Marshall certified applicators are available.
